Joint Injections

Many people who have pain originating from their joints may wonder if steroid joint injections are a good treatment option. While many people experience symptom relief from corticosteroids alone, our Collaborative Healthcare team in Lexington, SC may recommend other treatment plans.

Joint injections are typically prescribed when other treatments, such as topical and oral medication and physical therapy, do not provide sufficient relief.

Pain in a joint, such as the CMC joint of the thumb, knees, elbows, and shoulders may not be coming directly from the bony parts of the joint. However, surrounding tissues, nerves and structures often produce pain.
