BOTOX

BOTOX® is the most popular cosmetic surgical treatment in the U.S., and for good reason. Not only does BOTOX have a long history of safe and effective use in both women and men — it’s also highly effective in treating frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles without the hassles, costs and risks of surgery. At Collaborative Healthcare, we use BOTOX to treat women and men with lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. BOTOX injections can be performed in just a few minutes, and the results can last for months.

How Does BOTOX Work?

BOTOX works on dynamic wrinkles — those lines and furrows that form when you frown, grimace, or smile. Crow’s feet (those crinkly lines near the corners of your eyes), frown lines between your brows, and horizontal forehead lines are the most visible types of dynamic facial wrinkles — and fortunately, those are the areas where BOTOX works best.

BOTOX works by getting to the underlying “cause” of these wrinkles. When you make an expression, the muscles in your face respond and contract, tugging on the overlying skin and causing it to “bunch up.” Over time, years of repeated facial expressions cause those lines to become “etched” into your skin, and before you know it, the lines are visible all the time — even when you’re not smiling or frowning. BOTOX works by blocking the signals that cause your facial muscles to contract. That means those muscles won’t tug on your skin — and lines and wrinkles won’t form.

What Happens During a Treatment?

BOTOX treatments are fast — typically 15 minutes or less. During your treatment, the BOTOX formula is injected using very fine needles. This allows your practitioner to target specific muscles while also minimizing any discomfort. After your treatment, you might have a little redness or mild swelling right at the injection site. You can reduce any minor discomfort you might have by applying an ice pack gently to the area. It’s important not to rub the area, since that can cause the formula to spread, making it less effective. Once your treatment is done, you’ll be able to go right back to your regular activities — there’s no downtime!

In most cases, it can take a couple of weeks for maximum results to become visible, and you can expect the results to last for three to four months. The good news:!. To learn more about BOTOX treatments or to schedule an appointment, give us a call at (803) 359-2273.
